Combined Transport International Inc - WebNola Portfolio
CombinedLogistics.com Case Study

Company Information
Combined Transport International is a logistics tracking company based in Chicago and Metairie. Combined contacted WebNola in mid-2007 with the prospect of doing a site redesign. In meeting with the company's vice president about the redesign, I was given a brochure which had been previously created for the company, and was told to make the site represent the look and feel of the brochure. Also, I would have to create the new site around their existing login/member system which was programmed in ASP. I was also asked to incorporate animation into the site to provide user excitement and visual appeal.
Challenges & Solutions
1. The brochure I was given was an attractive mixture of blues and greens, with transparent/abstract pictures of 18 wheelers, maps, and barge workers. Although it was easy to transfer these colors to a website, finding a way to match the brochure's "feel" was a bit tricky. To solve this problem, I incorporated some animated mouseover flash on the front page which represented the "feel" of the brochure.
2. The company wanted animation, but wanted to maintain a professiona/corporate image. To do this, I created a slight 5-second rolling animation on the front page. First, the images on the top right popped in, then the navbar slid in, followed by the large mouseover text for the focal point. In this 5 seconds, I was able to create visual excitement while maintaining professionalism. Also, the home page is the only page with auto animation on page load to prevent the user from getting tired of watching it repeat.
Overview and Conclusion
After a few proofs went back and forth, the Combined Transport staff were happy with the design and decided it was time to go live. Launching the site went off without a hitch, and thanks to good communication from both WebNola and Combined Transport, happened earlier than was proposed.
