3 Ways to Maintain Relationships with Customers using your Web Presence
Let's face it, maintaining current customers is just as important as obtaining new ones. Keeping your customers coming back is a tricky science, but is one that can prove invaluable to your company's success. In this article, I will detail 3 ways to keep your customers coming back.
1. E-Mail newsletters - Can you remember every online business that you've ever made a purchase at? Probably not. What if every company you've ever purchased from sent you an informative monthly or bi-monthly newsletter via E-Mail? E-mail newsletters can keep your company name fresh in customer's minds for the next time they are in the market for what your company offers. For instance, if your company offers a Ceramic Tile Refinishing service, you could send your customers an e-mail once a month which offers valuable information on keeping refinished tile clean. In this e-mail, you could remind the customer of a special sale price that your company might be promoting, or a new product list. Just remember, if you send too many emails or your e-mails are too "spammy", your customers will be offended and you might end up losing customers.
2. Customer Service - This is one area in which many web companies fail. You can put your company ahead of your competition by simply making sure your business hours are reasonable, making sure someone is actually available to talk to during business hours, not making your customer wait, and making sure your customers are happy. For example, if you have a company which sells DVD movies online, you could give your customers a choice to call or chat with a representative during business hours, or E-mail if the support inquiry is outside of business hours.
3. Give Current Customers a Little "Lagniappe" - Remember, any repeat customer is showing you that they are happy with their previous transaction, and that they chose you over a potential competitor. Show them that you appreciate the repeat business by giving them a small discount on the final purchase price, or throw in something extra. Custom company T-shirts can be purchased in bulk for as little as $2 each. This small token of appreciation may be a deciding factor on whether the customer comes back to your site for their next purchase
